Comfort of City-Link Buses in Scotland

We are traveling to Scotland in October of this year. We will be traveling by bus some of the time, and I'm wondering how comfortable the City-Link buses are. Thank you!

I am not sure what you mean or are asking about comfortable. One bus we were on was a standard bus with padded seats -- comfortable enough with some tight leg space -- view it as a typical over-the-road bus. Limited overhead storage but it did hold our small day bag. The ride was smooth and the roads are good. Typical sway of a road bus.

DH and I used the Air Link to get from the airport to our hotel. We also took the bus out to Rosllyn Chapel as a side trip. I would agree with the earlier comment---standard bus accommodations with room for a day pack. My biggest worry is always getting off a the right stop---I don't find them particularly well marked in Ireland or Scotland so you have to know where you are to know where you are if you know what I mean :) ! I usually tell the bus driver where we are going and they have always been very gracious in letting us know which stop to get off. A kind word and an earnest request elicits a lot of help getting around!

One interesting thing on the hour long ride to Rosslin---at one point the bus pulled over for what I thought was a regular bus stop. But after about 5 minutes and no one getting off or on I walked down stairs to see what was going on. The bus driver was reading a book! After about 5 more minutes he cranked back up and off we went. I think it has to do with enforced break times for drivers. I know we stopped every 1 1/2 or 2 hours on the RS tour for a driver break---perhaps it is the same with city buses too.

It might have been a rest stop for the driver, or he might have been running ahead of schedule and needed to wait so people at stops further along wouldn't miss the bus.
