Comfort of Airbus?

Hi, we just found out our tickets for Delta/Air France to Paris next month are on Airbus. But, we're in economy seating. We're B & C an ABC window row. Anyone flown airbus economy that can give some input as to comfort?

Generally comfort and economy do not go together well. If you are under 5-4,and around a 100 lbs, you will be fine. If economy plus or economy comfort is available - go for it. To give you an idea of space, if the seat in front is reclined you do not have enough to put down the tray table.

I do a heck of a lot of flying. Except for the MD-80 series which is always first and last for me, unless I look at the pocket card, I've no idea what I'm sitting in. I know Airbuses are generally somewhere in the mix, but the seating is so uniformly the same that it makes no difference. I've never noticed a problem using the table with the seat in front fully reclined. The table hinge assembly is independent of the seatback. You know that Delta has several types of Airbus machines with a couple varients of the the 330, right?

I loved Air France and could sleep and watch the tv screen..the Airbus was new and clean. Food and wine were great. I'm under 5'5" and petite so economy seats don't bother me at all. Comfort depends solely on the person and their weight/shape and ability to sleep on planes (and inhale stale air)

Airbus is a brand, not a model. Lots of different models, and every airline chooses their own interior details. Get over to seat guru.com and enter your flight details. They'll show you more details about your seat than you could have ever imagined would be available. That said, if you're in Coach (on pretty much any airline), expect the seats to be cramped and uncomfortable. Keep your expectations low (very low) and you probably won't be disappointed.

If you are taking the Air France flight out of Dulles on the A380-800, the one that seats 500+ passengers, I found the economy seats even less comfortable than the older model planes. Less padding and a little less recline. But I loved the plane. Very quiet, and they turn on the monitors so you can watch the take off and landing from the cockpit. You can grab the emergency exit aisle seats with more leg room, if they haven't been given to medallion flyers, 24 hours before take off. There aren't too many Eonomy Premier seats, but you can buy an upgrade to that too. Try to sit upstairs.

Airbus or Boeing doesn't make any difference. It depends on the configuration decided by each airline on each model.
Seatguru.com will give you the pitch for each airline and model.

Interesting - for my height I found the Air France A380-800 regular Economy seat the most exceptionally comfortable seat I ever had on a long-haul flight (barring when I've flown First or Business). The multi-position footrest made all the difference.

It is the A380-800. The seat is 19 inches wide with a pitch of 32, (I think).
Rose, I hope you're right. I have a hard time sitting still because of a back problem due to a stroke and I don't want to disturb others by squirming around. I am excited about flying this plane though!!!

We were in the exit aisle and came back biz. Next time we're in economy, we won't bother with the exit aisle if the footrest made that kind of difference.

Cindi, it was seriously the best Economy flight overall that I've ever had. One thing to be aware of - this plane is ENORMOUS!! At the airport I flew out of it could only be accommodated at the very last gate at the far end of the terminal because the gigantic wing span precludes it driving down or entering/leaving from the lanes where the normal jetways are. So, it was a long walk to get to the boarding gate. The boarding process was amazing. Multiple jetways and boarding on two levels for the upper and lower decks. Very organized, calm, and orderly though, considering there were about 525 passengers. Complimentary champagne served to everyone - yes, even in the cheap seats. Great entertainment choices too. Kept me occupied for the entire flight. And through some bizarre stroke of good luck the person assigned to the middle seat in my row was a no-show - the only empty seat on the plane!! The other passenger in the aisle seat and I were both grinning with delight and couldn't believe our good fortune. The service was impeccable - quick, friendly, unusually tasty food. I had the impression the flight crew felt privileged to be assigned to the A380-800. An all-round outstanding flight experience. I will now look for it each time I fly over.

OMGoodness, Rose. That's so nice to hear. I'm happy for your luck. I lucked out on the way back from London once and had 3 seats all to myself! I felt so blessed. I try to enjoy each and every part of a journey, from beginning to end. Thank you so much for the info!
Happy travels, my friends!

My favorite Airbus feature (I know it's not on all of them, but it was definitely on my Airbus 380 from JFK to CDG, among others) is the USB charging port at every seat. This means you can use your iPod or tablet for the entire flight and still keep it fully charged.

rather that generalizing on an airbus, go to seatguru and select your carrier and airbus plane and type to determine seat distances.
