Has anyone flown into this airport? If so, how do you get to the Cologne train station from there?

According to the website of the local trainsit system (VRS=Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg, www.vrs-info.de) there is direct rail connection (S-bahn and regional rail) between the airport and the main station in Köln. It takes just over 15 minutes and costs €2,30. You can get schedules on their website. Although I got an error message a few minutes ago when I tried to get the info on the English side, I had no problem getting the information on the German lanaguage side.

You can also get schedule info, but not fares, from the German Rail (Bahn) query site at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en.

As Lee already said, there is an S-Bahn link connecting the airport with Hauptbahnhof every 15 minutes and the journey time is 15 minutes. The airport train station is just outside Terminal 1. Also there are direct high speed train connections to the Frankfurt or Düsseldorf areas from the airport train station. Check with bahn.de (select international guests).
