I'm arriving Dublin from USA and heading to the Dublin ferry terminal in May. Time is of the essence! To plan which flight to book, I would like to know how long it will take to clear customs, and get a taxi to the ferry terminal. Thank you in advance!
At the risk of being pedantic, what you really want to know is how long will it take to clear immigration. Unless you have something to declare, customs is simply walking through a door. How long it will take to clear immigration really depends on how many other flights are arriving at the same time from non-EU countries and where you are sitting on your particular flight. I would give it at least 60 minutes. Once through immigration, just follow the signs for the taxis. There usually are plenty.
I know I would not give myself less than 3 hrs from scheduled landing to boat departure.
Checked luggage to retrieve?
Aer Lingus schedules most of its transatlantic arrivals for around 5AM, in time to make connections to their first wave of flights onward to Europe. That's probably the time to avoid. Otherwise, a roll of the dice...
Thank you Trotter, Joe and Scudder. I think I can book the flight and the ferry now!
