Going to Civitavecchia Italy in November, looking for hotel to 2 days before my cruise back to USA.

Civitavecchia doesn't have much to offer for a 2 day stay. Have you considered being in Rome for the 2 days and transferring to Civita. the day of embarkation?

Agree with Norma-would stay in Rome. There is nothing attractive about Civitavecchia.

I disagree. After reading so many negative comments about Civitavecchia prior to going last year, I was expecting a dump. I thought it was a charming little town. There are a few hotels around the port that looked fine.

It is not a dump and it may be a charming little town but it still does not have much to offer especially if you are thinking about hanging around for two days. It is a typical working Italian town of little historical importance. An overnight would be OK. Stay in Rome and catch the train to Civit... The train station is a quarter of a mile or so from the port entrance with three to four trains an hour from Rome.
