What is the best mode of travel within the cities of Berlin and Munich ? Is it possible to buy a full day / group ticket ? I will be there with my family (2 adults and 2 children). Please suggest.
We were in Munich over Christmas last year. There was a day family pass that cover five people at the same time. Don't remember the fare but it was cheap and purchased at a vending machine. Haven't make it yet to Berlin. Next trip.
A Partner Tageskarte (day ticket) covers up to 5 people in specified zones in Munich, all day long for unlimited use of conveyances. A ticket for the inner zone, Innenraum, for €10,20, will take you to everything people commonly go to in Munich except Dachau. You can buy a Munich XXL (inner two zones) which include the train and bus from downtown to Dachau for €13,10. And entire network (Gesamtnetz) Tageskarte for €20, will take you everywhere in the MVV, including to the airport. In Berlin, a Kleingruppe-Tageskarte, for €15, is good for all day for a group of up to five in the inner two rings, AB, of Berlin. For €15,50 you can include the next ring, C, which includes Potsdam. In addition, a Berlin-Brandenburg Länder Ticket, for €28 for 5p, is valid for unlimited travel (after 9 AM workdays) throughout the Länder of Berlin and Brandenburg.
Thanks very much. That was really useful.
