What is the easiest way to get from Cinque Terre to Venice?
By car or by train? By car(4 hours) Itinerary (almost totally freeway): Venezia - Bologna - Parma - La Spezia - Cinque Terre By train (5.5 to 6.5 hours). Itinerary (2 to 4 train changes): Venezia - Firenze - Pisa - La Spezia - Cinque Terre or
Venezia - Milano - Genova - Cinque Terre
Mike, Roberto provided a good analysis of the two options. I wouldn't bother renting a car for that one trip, even if it is slightly faster. Travel by train will likely be cheaper, especially if you pre-purchase "Super Economy" tickets (on those portions of the route where they're applicable). Driving in Italy comes with a few "caveats" including the requirement for each driver to have the compulsory I.D.P., tolls on the motorways, high cost of fuel and CDW / LDW, etc. Happy travels!
