Cinque Terre to Pisa

What's the easiest and cheapest way to leave Cinque Terre or La Spezia to get to Pisa. I researched the Trenitalia. Is that the only way? Do I need to reserve seats in advance or are there several trips throughout the day that I can just hop on?

Thanks!

Take the train. They run frequently and it doesn't cost much--probably less than 10 Euros. Reservations aren't necessary. I think it takes about an hour. The schedules should be in Trenitalia if you are going La Spezia Centrale to Pisa Centrale.

As mentioned above, there are frequent trains from La Spezia to Pisa throughout the day. There are faster Cisalpino and ICplus trains that run during the day and they are faster with fewer stops. You probably need seat reservations but you can do all of this at the La Spezia train station just before you travel. The trip will take you 51 minutes on a faster train or 1 hour 23 minutes on the slower regional train. For the regional train, you won't need seat reservations. What time of day do you intend to leave?

We plan to leave Cinque Terre after check-out time. So around 12:30 or 1pm. So I really don't have to worry about reserving a seat on a train? We can just wait and jump on one? =)

No worries. You can buy a ticket at the station and there are plenty of trains.

Correct. Just buy your tickets at the station, validate it in the little yellow box and get on. Except for Eurostar, EuroCity and maybe ICplus trains, the tickets you buy are "open". The ticket will say La Spezia Centrale to Pisa Centrale but there is no train number or seat reservation on the ticket. It's good on any train making that run. That's why they have the little yellow box. Most 2nd class tickets are open which gives you a lot of flexibility of when you want to travel. Here's what the schedule looks like.
