Cinque Terre to Paris by overnight train?

What's the best way to travel from Cinque Terre to Paris? I'm interested in taking an overnight train if I can get a private sleeping berth at a cost comparable to a budget hotel.

You would need to get to Milan in time to catch the night train that leaves at 23:38 and arrives in Paris at 09:29. Discount fares aren't offered for single compartments (one-bed sleepers). The standard fare is €220. Advance purchase discount fares are offered for two-bed (€115) and three-bed (€90) sleepers. You'll save money as well as time if you take the train to either Milan or Pisa and fly from one of those cities to Paris on easyJet.

Brenda, I agree with Tim, an overnight train is perhaps not the best choice in this case. That's about a 10-hour trip, and you may not have a good sleep in a cramped compartment with a number of strangers. A budget flight is the method I'd suggest. Happy travels!

Thanks folks. Now, another question. What's the best way to get from Cinque Terre to Pisa?

If you want to go to Pisa, I presume you plan to take the 14:05 easyJet flight from there to Orly. Not knowing which Cinque Terre town you'll be leaving from, I arbitrarily chose Vernazza. If you leave Vernazza at 09:34 and connect in La Spezia and Pisa Centrale, you'll arrive at the airport train station at 12:00. See the German Rail for detailed timetables. Enter the Cinque Terre town of your choice as your departure point and Pisa Aeroporto as your arrival point.

Brenda, The information provided by Tim is spot-on (as usual). You can also use the Trenitalia website to research the trip from C.T. to Pisa Airport. The prices are usually shown. For example, using the departure from Vernazza at 09:34 (as previously mentioned), you'll arrive at Pisa Aeroporto at 12:00 (time 2H:26M, two changes at La Spezia Centrale and Pisa Centrale, current fare listed at €7.00). DON'T forget to validate your ticket on that route, since the trips are via Regionale trains! Cheers!
