I can not figure out the best way to get from Rome to cinque terre and then get to barcelona!!!!! please help!!!!
Rome to the CT is about 3.5hrs with no train changes. Continuing to Barcelona via Nice, Nimes, etc. is very time consuming. Depending on the run, the trip takes 16hrs-21hrs and requires 5-7 train changes. Second, you can fly from Pisa (1hr from the CT) to Barcelona on Vueling (www.vueling.com). This is a Spanish budget airline. Fare can be as low as 39E if you book really early. Last, you can take an overnight ferry from Civitavecchia (near Rome) to Barcelona. You will pass Civitiavecchia outside of Rome on your way to the CT. You would have to return to the port there for the ferry.
thanks larry!
There is also a night train from Torino to Barcelona. From CT head north to Genoa and then to Torino.
