Cinque Terra to Florence

We can't seem to find a train from CT to Florence other than a 5 am train that takes 6 plus hours from La Spezia in September. Any suggestions?

Susan, there are a few trains running from La Spezia (Cinque Terre) to Firenze according to the bahn.de website. I used arbitrary dates of 11/12/13 August, as the schedules for September might not be posted yet.

One train that might work for you departs La Spezia Centrale at 10:40, arriving Firenze S.M.N. at 16:44 (Time 6H04M, 2 changes in Voghera and Bologna). All of the trains for that particular trip are subject to compulsory reservation. The trains apparently run daily.

It is a bit of a long journey, but on that particular route I'm not sure there are any other options. There is a shorter time of 5H42M but unfortunately that one departs at 05:02!

You could also search for routes from Genova to Firenze, but I really doubt these would be any shorter.

Good luck and happy travels!

I would look for a connection through Pisa. La Spezia-Pisa-Firenza.

Susan, there are tons of trains from the CT to Florence. You are most likely looking too far out on the train schedule. Look no more than 60 days out from the current date to see the current runs. Don't worry, these trains, with possible minor schedule changes, will be the same later in the year.

CLICK HERE to see a list of some runs during the day. There are earlier trains and later trains as well. The journey from Monterosso is about 3.5hrs.

The TRENITALIA website shows trains from La Spezia to Firenze SMN via either Pisa or Viareggio; total time less than 3 hours.
