Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Cinque Terra to Barcelona on the train system? Also are there any places you recommend we stop for an over night on the way? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You will have to go through Nice, southwest France and then down to Barcelona. 15.0hrs-18hrs depending on the run. It's not an easy trip by train. Its 5.5hrs by train from the CT to Nice Ville. Its then about 11.0hrs from Nice Ville to Barcelona. You might look into staying in Nice or Cannes. I can see other cities and towns where the trains stop but I have not been to these towns or cities. I am unable to recommend any.
You could take the train to Nice Ville and fly to Barcelona on www.vueling.com. You could save about 8.0hrs.

it's a long journey.
I would try going by train from CT to a larger city, then fly from there to Barcelona.
Try skyscanner.net for low EU airfares.

Nice would be an excellent place to stop over for a night--or longer. IMO, Cannes would be a waste of time--and very expensive.
