Ciampino airport to downtown Rome

If you arrive at a time with no traffic. A taxi will be quickest. If you arrive during traffic, take the train.

Brad, I was not aware of a train from Clampino. I thought only bus service was available. Where is Ron when we need him?

There is only bus transportation to/from Ciampino. You can take a bus from the airport to a nearby train station and the train from there into Rome, but it's more hassle and takes longer.

Maybe I'm thinking of the other airport. The one we flew out of had train service and I thought it was Ciampino but it must have been Fiumicino.

Those airports are not easy airports to confuse. Ciampino is used mostly by discount airline and is much further from Rome. I think it is at least an hour bus ride.

It looks like the nearest train station to Ciampino is 5 minutes away by bus, and the train takes 15 minutes into Rome, but it seems to me when I checked the schedules the waiting time for the bus and train made the travel time a lot longer than the bus into Rome, which is coordinated with flight arrivals.
