We are taking a cruise that ends in Dover, England and want to take the Chunnel train from Dover to Calais, France, but I am unable to find any information about being able to board the train in or near Dover. Is this possible?
It looks to me like you can catch the Eurostar in Ashford. I had thought there was something at Folkstone, but it doesn't look like that's the case. There are some rail experts on the helpline that will likely chime in. Ashford is between London and Dover. Pam
What Americans know as the Chunnel is actually called the Channel Tunnel. It is run by a company called Eurotunnel, and offers various services. It will take your car, truck or bus on a shuttle train from Folkestone to Calais, but doesn't take foot passengers. It also accommodates passenger and freight trains.
If you want to go by the Eurostar passenger train from England to France or Belgium, then you have to getb the train at London, Ebbsfleet or Ashford. Ashford is closest to Dover, but has only a limited number of services daily. These go to Paris, Brussels and Lille, but you cannot go by Eurostar from Ashford to Calais.
If you are in Dover, and just want to go to Calais, then it is best to go by ferry.
We took the Eurostar from London to Paris over the Holiday season. There was only 1 stop before you entered the Chunnel -- and that was Ashford.
But (!) they only stop on selected days in Ashford.

And in case you're claustrophobic: You're only under the sea for about 25 minutes.
