choosing seats on Trenitalia

I can not figure out what the options mean in Trenitalia website. I'm considering traveling from Florence to Milan then Milan to Paris all at once- overnight and want to be sure I choose the correct trains. First, I want to be sure I have the most comfortable/private option from Milan to Paris. Second, I just want to understand the options on the short ride from Florence to Milan. The little info bubbles didn't pop up a description for me.
any advice on traveling via train is welcome. I've read about the apps but many of these posts are quite old.
thanks in advance

The Milan to Paris is operated by Thello overnight. When you buy that you have options of choosing a cabin shared with others of the same sex or mixed or your own cabin the most private option.

This is the site to use to buy tickets in English

The Florence to Milan is pretty simple two different companies serve that route Italo Train and Trenitalia,
I guess you would want to just select the High Speed option as you will see the slower trains listed as well we you search to buy,
I use this site to buy tickets all the time as it sells tickets on both Italo and Trenitalia and there is no added fees or markup.

Kate,
Just wondering...
Have you considered flying?
You can fly on EasyJet from Malpensa (Milan) to Paris for as low as $23pp.
( I used September 12th for this example)

Check Skyscanner.com for flights.

Have a wonderful trip!

At least Vueling and Air France also fly nonstop from Florence airport to Paris (either Orly or CDG).
