Choosing left side (scenic) seats on Trenitalia: Rome to La Spezia

I'm thinking this 4 hour ride from Roma Termini to La Spezia, along the coast,
might offer some scenic views.
Especially if we 4 adults were seated on the left side of the train car.

We will buy second class Economy tickets.

Does anyone know how those seats are numbered?
And how many seats across per row?

Thanks!

(I'm trying to think of every little detail! :-)

I have travelled the line from La Spezia to Rome a few times, never the other way. You really don't see much coast line if that is what you mean by scenic. I think the inland side is more scenic as you get to see the mountains, hill towns, farm lands and Carrara.

This will bring you to seat plans: http://www.seat61.com/train-seat-plans.htm

Which train are you using?

On Freccia trains you get to select your seats from a template - much like you do on planes :-)

Second class will be 2+2, i.e. 2 seats each side of the aisle.

Thanks.

I booked this 4 hour ride on an Intercity train.
The seat selector seemed to show (to me at least),
A side aisle with 6 seat "compartment or area" with 3 seats
facing 3 seats.
For our group of four, I picked the window and middle seats.
Thanks.

That makes sense, Bob. If it's a compartment with a door and the aisle outside the door, then you don't see as well out that side.
