On May 31st, I'll be getting into Chiasso, Switzerland from Basel. I have 5 minutes to catch my train to Milan, which is the last train of the day (so I need to be on it!). The DB site states that this train operates as an S-Bahn through Como, when it then operates as a local train. My question is: has anyone else taken this train, where in the station is it located, and is 5 minutes enough time to transfer to it? Thank you. Paul
Five minutes should be enough; Chiasso is a small station and this is Switzerland. But if you are traveling from Basel to Milan, whiiy not take the direct train that takes only 4 hours 10 minutes, with no changes? You can leave Basel as late as 17:28 on that route.
That would be good, except I'm starting in Baden Baden at 5:30 and going through Basel, then Chiasso and finally get to Milan around midnight so I can get up and travel to the Cinque Terre after checking out the Duomo in Milan. A lot of traveling, I know! Thank you for your response. Paul
