Checking luggage through to Spain, do we need to claim in Paris and re-che?

Hi travelers, My husband and I are about to embark on a 2 week tour of Spain with Rick Steves.
We are flying on Delta from Seattle to Barcelona, via Paris/Charles DeGaulle. Question: if we were to check a bag from Seattle through to Barcelona, would we need to pick it up in Paris and re-check it through to Barcelona or do we pick up out bag in Barcelona and go through customs there? Thanks!

Lesley, If you're using the same airline for both flights or a code share with a Delta partner airline on the leg from CDG to BCN, your bags will be checked through to final destination. You can verify that when they attach the Bar Code luggage tag, as it will show the final destination. I suspect your flight from CDG to BCN will be via KLM City Hopper, (a Delta Sky Team partner airline) which I believe arrives at BCN T1. When you arrive in Barcelona, the easiest and cheapest method to get into the city is via the AeroBus, which stops at Plaça Catalunya. Which tour are you taking and which hotel in Barcelona? Do you know yet who your Guide is? I took one of the RS Spain tours in June, and it was excellent! Happy travels!

Thanks you for your response! We are flying on "Delta, operated by Air France" from Paris to Barcelona.
I think that means it is a partner to Delta... We are staying at the Hotel Nouvel in Barcelona. It is the hotel the group will be staying in. We do not yet know who our guid will be. We are looking forward to our first Rick Steve's tour!

Lesley, Thanks for the additional information. I'm sure you're going to have a fantastic time on the tour! I took the 11 day My Way Spain tour, and really enjoyed it. If you're interested, I'd highly recommend the Venta El Gallo Gypsy Flamenco show in Granada. The only time you'll have for that is your free evening on Day 8 of the tour. Many of the hotels sell tickets and the show often provides pickup from the hotels. If you need any tips on finding your hotel in Barcelona, send me a PM (provided it's the same hotel our group used). Cheers!
