My husband and I are looking at flying into Geneva for a vacation in Southeastern France and Northern Italy. We want to buy a France/Italy rail pass. Do you know the easiest/cheapest way to get to a train station in France from the Geneva airport?
Geneva is right on the Franco-Swiss border. When I look up rental car companies they usually list their location as Geneva Airport-French side. I don't know if there are direct trains from the airport to French destinations, but worst case scenerio, you take the train into Geneva main station and pay for a ticket to the border where your rail passes kick in. It couldn't be but $10 or so, certainly nothing to worry about. If you go to the "Plan Your Trip" tab on this website and look on the left hand side, you'll see a link for DB, the German Rail corporation, which has nearly complete schedules for all of Europe. I'm sure that one of the more experienced posters will provide you with complete directions on how to use it, but really it is pretty simple.
