cheapest way to reach from Trieste to Prague

We are in Trieste on the 25th of Sept, now we need to reach Prague to board our flight that leaves on 26th Sept.(early morning) Is there a boat, train or a bus tour that we can take.

It will be a long train ride with several connections. You can go Trieste-Gorizia-Nova Gorica-Jesenice-Salzburg-Linz-Prague, departing at 05:58 and arriving at 20:40. Or Trieste-Verona-Munich-Prague, departing at 06:35 and arriving at 22:54. See the German Rail site for detailed timetables.

Thanks for your feedback. I would still like to know if there is a ferry or a coach which can be an enjoyable experience.Love to hear some more options. Thanks everyone.

You're welcome. I didn't give you the bus schedule because it doesn't fit your dates. You would need to take a train to Venice and catch a direct overnight Eurolines bus from there to Prague. The bus leaves Venice at 22:30 and arrives in Prague at 12:15. However, the bus doesn't run every day. You would have to leave on the 23rd (too early) or on the 25th (too late). There are no waterways between Trieste and Prague so taking a ferry is not possible. Even if there were, the trip would take several days.

I guess I will have to break my journey , while returning from Trieste. Kindly suggest a place where I can reach directly from Trieste and continue my journey the following morning to Prague.
Your input is of great help to me , I really appreciate it.

All I can say is "Wow!". Do you know how far Prague is from Trieste? And you want to get there in less than a day since you are leaving early morning? And the travel is to Prague is a Sunday? That is way crazy. You would have way more options if you are traveling to Prague on 9/24 than on 9/25. The bus could be a way to go & cheapest...its about 12 1/2 hours ride from Trieste to Prague. More expensive...You might want to look at a connecting flight instead of the train. It can work out to almost the same in cost but less time traveling. Skyscanner might be your best bet in looking up airlines. The cheap plane route is to go to somewhere that connects with Smart Wings or WizAir. I know there is a flight on 9/25 from Paris 78Eur to Prague on Smartwings.

Thanks Debbi,
I think you are right about leaving Trieste 2 days early. So I shall take a train to Vienna on the 24th and than take a train to Prague. This is the only way I see you.

If you decide to stop in Vienna, you could take the direct night train from Venice to Vienna, spend some time there, and get to Prague in the evening. Or you could take the direct Venice-Munich night train, spend the day in Munich, and then go on to Prague. If you take either night train, book your tickets now. Both night trains are popular so they may be sold out if you wait too long.

Yasmin, In your place I myself would do the following: skip the idea of flying, take the train. It's going to be an all day ride anyway. I myself would take this route: Trieste to Prague via Munich, less cumbersome than transfering in Wien. Take the Trieste train departing at 0635 for Munich, this leg involves one transfer in Verona, arrive in Munich at 1625. Then Munich to Prague, direct, dep. 1702 arriving 2254. Only on the first leg going to Munich do you need to transfer, other than that you'll have a direct shot.
