Hi,
I am planning to take a bus ride from Sorrento to Salerno via Positano and Amalfi coast. Can I book tickets for the bus travel from US and what is the cheapest rate available ?

You have to buy your ticket in advance, bus drivers cannot sell you a ticket. Any Tabacchi will sell you one. Remember to validate (time stamp)the ticket when you first board a bus, fines are heavy! Link to a site showing the fares available in the area. Suggest you buy a 24 hour ticket for 7.20 euro.
Edit - sorry meant to say validate the ticket when you board the first bus, after that just show the driver your validated ticket.
