I am looking to find the cheapest airfare from San Diego to Rome in Sept. (Maybe returning to San Diego from Milan) The cheapest I have found is $760 RT. My mom called in on Rick's radio show and he said wait until Aug. 10th to shop. Anyone know why or know a cheaper fare? I found this on cheapoair.com Thanks for any comments.
If you're flexible, try also John Wayne or even Ontario. Or, if you very very flexible, try flying out of TJ.
I would try airlines who specialize in Milan like Alitalia (spelling?) or, see if you can fly from SD to Paris or London, then connect to Rome using a european domestic carrier. That's what I do to save some money.
For example, when I went to Spain, I flew out of LAX to London for $577. Spent a day in London (last chance to hear English!) From London I took EasyJet to Barcelona for like 14 pounds (yes, 28 bucks).
Keep an eye out in the local paper, and listen to radio ads from the airlines.
I did hear the downside to catching a domestic is that they now kill you on the baggage fees. My daughter paid $50 from London to Scotland but got nailed for $300 in baggage fees. Would be interested to hear if that has been the case with anyone lately. Thanks
