Cheap Flights into Europe

Where is the cheapest destination to fly into/ out of Europe?
(I'm flying out of YVR- Vancouver's international airport)

According to farecompare.com, and using unspecified dates in June, your best bets are Amsterdam, Frankfurt, or London.

Do some research. Sign up for Kayak price alerts. When are you flying? No one place is cheaper really. Simply have to keep looking until you find a price you are willing to pay. Might also investigate flying open jaw. Into one city, out of another. Keep an eye out for airlines offering super saver fares. Check websites like Skyscanner, Vayama, Orbitz, Cheap Air, Expedia. This is what a travel agent used to do, research to locate the best deal for their client. With the advent of the internet folks don't seem to use travel agents very often. Up to you to do the research.

Thanks, yes I've been looking things up and comparing and thus far I've found Frankfurt to be the best but I'll continue to look- thanks for the advice!

Er,, Airtransat, London,, but not during the Olympics,, then look at Amsterdam. Airtransat is the cheapest I have found out of YVR and some of those fare compare sites don't seem to list it..

Tanja, Rather than looking at the "cheapest destination to fly into / out of", I tend to choose airports in the general area I want to start touring. For example, if the purpose of your trip is to visit Rome, there's really no point in flying to Glasgow simply because it's cheapest. From there you would have to book a flight with another airline, which would add to the cost. Which airport to use will also depend to some extent on what time-of-year you'll be travelling. Some of the charter airlines (ie: Air Transat) operate lots of flights to Europe in the summer months, but these are sharply curtailed in the winter. They also don't offer as many flights as the larger carriers or offer the same number of destinations, so some flexibility is needed to fly with them. They switch to the "sun destinations" in the winter, such as Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico or wherever. In addition to Air Transat, you could also have a look at Canadian Affair for flights to the U.K. For flights from YVR, look at larger "hubs" such as Heathrow (or even Gatwick), Amsterdam and especially Frankfurt. It would help if you could provide a bit more information on where you're planning to go in Europe. Also, do you live in the Vancouver area, or somewhere else in the lower mainland? Cheers!

Thanks for your input-I would like to travel this summer for the month of July and will be going to Italy and coasting along the south of France.

Tanja,, wow, you are booking a bit late to scoop deals, but try Airtransat as you can fly into one city and out another (use the multi destination ) without it being as expensive as two one ways, and you save money by not having to backtrack to airport you flew into.
You could fly into Rome and out of Barcelona and take the coast all the way across by train or inter europeon flights) Or look at flying into Paris , then taking an Easyjet or Vueling flight to Rome or wherever in Italy,, those are both decent cheapo airlines ,, but prices go up closer to dates for those airlines, I am flying from Barcelona to Paris on Easyjet this August, and its costing me a total of 97 euros for two people and thats all in , extra luggage etc.. a great price, but I booked back in March. Airtransat used to fly out of Rome to YVR but they aren't this year which sucks,,

I believe Virgin Atlantic goes from Vancouver to London and they are a quality airline.
