After I booked my accommodations for our month trip, I realized I'd made a miscalculation. I need to get from Manarola (Cinque Terre) to Paris by 6 pm-ish. Well, I found out that wasn't going to happen by train, even if I left CT by 6 am. Luckily, I found that there are multiple flights to Paris from the Pisa airport, which is a fairly short train trip from CT. There are a couple flights, straight to Paris, for around 50 euros - much cheaper for us than the train. They fly into the smaller commuter airport in Paris. My question - is there anyone who has taken these? The carriers for the direct flights are easyjet & another small airline. I'm not ready to surrender myself to Iberian Air & fly through Barcelona; the lay-over is pretty long, anyway. So, any comments about the quality/safety of these flights?
I would suggest that Easyjet is preferrable. They fly from Pisa to Paris-Orly. Ryan Air flys to Paris-Beauvais which is not actually in Paris. It's about 90 minutes away by bus. You'll find travelers on this website comfortable with both airlines. Just carefull read and study the term, conditions and fees on their websites so that you don't get surprised.
Thanks Larry! I just booked with easyjet. I'll still have a late check-in fee, since the only flight gets in at 6pm & I'm told it's impossible to get from Orly to Marais in less than 1 1/2 hours. New adventure!
Leslye, make sure that you do like Larry says and check all of the conditions. Most inter-EU airlines are VERY strict about carry-ons: ONE only!!!, and size and weight of your carry-on, and your luggage.
I did look, and I made sure I paid for a checked bag each - Nik will be carrying photo equipment; which will definitely count as a carry-on. Luckily we will be going to Orly; it's much easier to pick up checked bags there then CDG. I have to say, the easyjet.com site was very easy to navigate. They were also up-front about the carry-on situation. You'd have to try hard NOT to get it! So, for 2 people with 2 checked bags, I still ended up only paying 113 euros! Even with the late arrival fee I'll still have to pay, I come out 100 euros ahead.
