We want to go to Europe this September/October for 3 weeks. We need to fly to some place in Europe (the cheapest destination), then we take an European flight to Nice where we lease a Renault car. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children, one 6 and one 4 years old). Can anyone recommend the cheapest destination? Thank you in advance. Virginia
Iceland Air have a new low cost pricing system. They fly from Baltimore-Washington airport. Another cheap carrier is Aer LIngus to Dublin. But also check the various national carriers for specials, i.e. Lufthansa to Frankfurt or Munich, KLM to Amsterdam, Air France to Paris, BA to London, LOT to Warsaw, Alitalia to Milan or Rome and so on. Also check Continental and Delta to Cologne (as there are €19 flights to Nice from there) or Duesseldorf. Usually those Singapore Airlines flights from JFK to Frankfurt and Emirates flights from JFK to Hamburg are cheap, too.
I've had good luck with Aer Lingus and American Airlines. The cheapest destination that I have seen are Shannon Ireland and Paris France.
Best,
Karen
