In early May we will be wrapping up our 4 week trip to Benelux and France by spending our last 6 days in Paris. We will have a rental car that needs to be dropped off. Should we do this in Chartres and take a train to Gare de Lyon (close proximity to our hotel) or should we drive from Chartres to the station and drop off the rental? Most posters advise against driving into Paris. If it is recommended that we drop off the car in Chartres, how do we reach Gare de Lyon by train? Thanks, Dorsey
Trains from Chartres to Paris arrive at Gare Montparnasse. Take Metro line 6 from Montparnasse-Bienvenue to Bercy. Transfer to Metro line 14 and take it one stop to Gare de Lyon. For a zoomable map of the Metro and RER system, go here.
You could also take bus #91 directly from Gare Montparnasse to Gare de Lyon.
