What would be the least expensive - and easiest - way to get from Chartres to CDG Airport? (The flight out won't be until the next day; we'll be staying overnight at the Novotel at the airport.) If it involves a train, is there a place to drop off a rental car there? I really don't want to make the 1.5-3 hour drive to CDG.
Thanks; I got the times at another site, reading from others' posts & answers. Although the expected drive time is 1.5 hours, most said to expect it to be 2-3 hours. Anyway, I guess it would be cheaper to drive to CDG. Is it relatively easy to return a rental car (Europcar)? And, speaking of CDG, are there any BNP Paribas ATM machines there, esp. in CDG #2, Terminal A? I tried the BNP site, but couldn't seem to get an answer.
I've never delt with euopcar at CDG, but would assume they're located with the other outfits in the same clump. The rental car drop is well-signed on the way into the airport, after that I just follow the circle until I spot the company I need. I wouldn't bet on any particular brand of atm machine anywhere - - I never look, just make sure it's bank-affiliated and press on since they all give the same deal. I assume you know that no atm in europe charges fees for it's use?
You already have a car for which you've paid. Gas and tolls will run maybe twenty or twenty-five bucks if you drive. The trip takes an hour (it's about seventy-five miles and you'll sit on eighty to stay with the flow) - - not sure where you got your times. Not sure what the cost of the train will be, but it's probably more than twenty-five dollars for two people. It will involve a train ride, a metro ride, and an RER ride - - that's two changes. Even with perfect timing on the changes it's bound to take longer since it's close to an hour to go from anywhere in Paris to Nord and then scoot out to Roissy. There are rental car places right by the Chartres train station.
Yeah, but my bank (Bank of America) will: $5 per transaction, at a non-affiliated bank (which is why I'm looking for the BNP one), as well as 1% of the amount withdrawn, in US dollars, for any ATM transaction. And, unfortunately, only Citibank's credit cards don't charge per credit card transaction, and I'm not in a position, at the moment, to apply for a different credit card; I'll just have to use the BOA Mastercard I currently have :-(
You're getting cash off of a credit card, not an atm/debit card???? Yikes! Isn't there a credit union around that you can toss some money in and withdraw from there? On the other hand, if you're leaving europe, how much cash can you need at the airport? Rhetorical questions, not my business.
Heck no, Ed! I'll be using my debit card for ATM withdrawals, and the credit card for charges; unfortunately, there's not enough $$ right now in ye olde checking account to just withdraw the cash I'll need. And the ATM is to get money when I get to CDG, not on my way home!
Okay, I've dudded out then. I've googled everything I can think of to see what banks have atms at Roissy and have had no luck.
