We are arriving in Paris and thinking about taking the metro. We will have one piece of luggage each, do you think it is wise to do this or just take a shuttle? Also, do you know the route from Charles de Gaulle airport to La motte piquet Grenelle (metro station). Thanks. Sarah
The shuttle will be the simplest, but more expensive. We've taken the RER B to Denfert-Rochereau. Then get on the no. 6 metro west to La Motte Picquet.
Or we have also taken the Roissy Bus from CDG to the Opera. At the Opera you can get on the no. 8 line and go to La Motte Picquet.
I'll add a bit to Eric's helpful note. The fare for the RER & Metro from CDG to central Paris is 8.20€. The direction of travel on RER and Metro lines is indicated by the name of the last stop. At Denfert-Rochereau take Metro line 6 (direction Charles de Gaulle Etoile). If you take the Roissybus to Opera, the fare is 8.60€. Take Metro line 8 (direction Balard) from there. Fare: 1.50€.
TAKE A TAXI! When you first arrive, it is a much calmer experience to go door to door. After you get yourself settled you can get going on the metro. Have a great trip - enjoy Rue Cler, it is a great part of the city.
