We are renting a car in France and was wondering if our charger cable that plugs into the cigarette lighter here will work over there. I'm assuming the answer is 'yes', but no one at Hertz can give me a definitive answer.

Mine has worked in all rental cards I have had in Europe, as well as my phone car charger... same as here in the US

Dorian, Most vehicles these days are 12-volt / Negative Ground so your existing Charger cables should work just fine. Be sure to check the vehicle to ensure that it has a Lighter outlet or whatever (with all the anti-smoking sentiments, one never knows these days). Happy travels!
