How much time do I need to allow to get from Terminal C to Terminal A in the Rome airport. I land at 7:15 a.m., have to go through customs and then want to catch a flight to Venice. I need to know what time to book.
The train would be just as fast when you consider check in time and screening. I'm just sayin'.....
Steve,
Are you flying into Rome from the states, or another European country? We landed in Paris from Seattle; at passport control we dropped off a form that we were given on the plane. It was quick in Paris, or at least that part of our terminal change. When we landed in Rome from Paris, we were out of the airport very quickly. But we also carried on our luggage. That will likely slow you down more than anything.
What are your flight layover options to Venice? In Paris we had a 1h30m layover from Verona that used 1h with no problems. I would think you could do 1h30m in Rome. But I'd probably want to plan for more, just in case.
Normally I'd recommend the train, but you'll already be at the airport. It's a 30 minute ride to Termini to catch a Venice Eurostar which is 4.5 hours. But it drops you off on Venice. There's an 8:50 to Venice and a 9:45 train. Here's a site with a map of FCO: http://rome-airports-shopping-gallery.adr.it/index.php?method=map&Terminal=A
When I flew to Venice, I arrived at 7:10 am at Terminal C, then went to Terminal A for an 8:55 am flight to Venice. I had a checked suitcase that was put through to Venice from Toronto, but still had my carry-on with my laptop, it was very quick going through customs.
