Hello~
Flying Lufthansa from Denver to Munich and then Air France from Munich to Florence with a short layover and unfortunately changing planes in Paris. Is 55 minutes enough time to change planes? Thanks for any advice.

Valorie,
I think Kent asks a lot of good questions in his response. If I read your post correctly you are flying Denver-Munich; Munich-Paris; and then Paris-Florence on two code-sharing airlines???? The challenge you may also face is luggage. My last 80 minute layover through CDG on Air France resulted in LOST Luggage at MXP. Took five days for our luggage to catch up with us.
When we discussed this with Air France (and then Delta who booked the flights & connection time), both said that I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN that to be safe, international carriers prefer a minimum of 2 hours when connecting internationally. I pointed out to Delta that they booked the flights and told me NO PROBLEM! "Oops, we made a mistake," was their reply... Even as a Platinum Medallion I got no compassion and no compensation!
So it's not just MAKING THE FLIGHT that's a concern... it's also getting your luggage to make the flight. I'd push back on who you booked this through and see if you could extend your layover - or better yet, just cut out the Paris leg. If you booked it through an airline, you'll have more leverage. If you booked it through travelocity, expedia, etc, you may face a "fee" to change the flight. I'd still go argue this!!!
good Luck!
Ciao,
Ron
Kent and Ron~
Thanks so much for your wise advice. I obviously put the cart before the horse and should have come here first before booking any flights, however I just found out about this very helpful travels hotline. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. Unfortunately, I booked both flights through Travelocity. I am not sure what you mean by "code-sharing airlines" Ron. When I booked the Munich to Florence flight, it was the best option available. I knew the time frame was tight, but I figured since it was the same airline that it wouldn't be an issue, but after reading other posts I started to get concerned. There was no direct Munich to Florence flight, as I recall, which would have been preferred.
I was thinking maybe what I will do is tomorrow, call Travelocity and/or Air France and see if the flights arrive and department from the same terminal and the gates are close to one another? Or ask their advice. Is this crazy of me to do? It seems my options are to pack everything in a carry on (is that possible for a woman?) and hope for the best, or to change the flight all together.
If nothing else I'm getting an education and hopefully getting the situation resolved as much as possible before leaving.
Grazie everyone for your help!!
Can you get your money back? For all that hassle, I'd just take the train from Muncih to Florence rather than backtrack through Paris.
Possibly. We had thought of taking the train initially, but thought it would take too long. You feel it would be much simpler? Do you how long the trip is by train from Munich to Florence?
Grazie!
