Seeing flights with a 1 hr or 1hr and 50 min layover time between arrival in Amsterdam and departure to Brussels.
I'm worried this will not be enough time.
Alternatives are to fly to Atlanta and then on to Brussels

It is tight. But if it is one ticket, they will have to take care of you. A few years ago we have a similar time line. We were about 20 mins late in Amsterdam because of rain and a small delay getting to our gate. The immigration was fairly quick with some lines but they had several lines for those with short connection but we still miss our connection. Try to sit near the exit so you can be one of the first off of the plane.

Another alternative is not to fly to Brussels but to Amsterdam, and take the train to Brussels. There is a train every hour that does not require advance reservation, so you can be on your way to Brussels whenever you are ready to be on your way to Brussels.
There are also lots of direct flights from NY to Brussels...

Thank you for the replies to this post - I didn't even think about the possibility of a train between AMS and cities in Belgium. That opens up more possibilities! The people on this forum are so helpful!

If your destination in Belgium is not actually Brussels but somewhere else you do not even need to go to Brussels. You can travel Schiphol - Brugge quite easily for example.

Antwerp is a perfectly nice place to change trains, but it's still over three hours to Brugge from Amsterdam, isn't it?
