We will be travelling in Italy on a Eurail pass. If we make a seat reservation ahead of time and then decide we want to travel at a different time of day, can we change the seat reservation or will we have to pay all over again for a new seat reservation?

According to RailEurope, any reservations made with them, for use with a ticket or pass, are non-exchangeable, non-refundable. According to German Rail (the Bahn), regular seat reservations (€4) from German Rail are not exchangeable or refundable. Reservations (€10,50) for the ICE Sprinter, which are required, are refundable up to the day of travel.
