change TER to colmar at Strasbourg station

Hi, I am taking TGV from Paris CDG to Colmar. When making booking for the train ticket, I got to know that I need to change TER to colmar at the Strasbourg sation as it is not a direct train to Colmar. According to the train schedule, it is about 30min. in between the arrival of the train to Strasbourg and departure of the TER to colmar. I want to know whether it is sufficient to me to take the TER to Colmar? Thanks.

Should be plenty of time - the station is one building and there isn't a long distance between platforms. You just need to go down the subway and up again. (If you are given separate tickets for the two legs, remember to cancel the second one in a machine at the bottom of the stairs before you board the train.)

Thanks for your help, Philip. Then I will buy the ticket for Colmar with 30 min. to change the platforms.

You said that "(If you are given separate tickets for the two legs, remember to cancel the second one in a machine at the bottom of the stairs before you board the train.)". Do you mean that I need to validate the train ticket for Colmar in a machine at Strasbourg station if I bought a separate ticket for Colmar? Thanks.

Almond,

Just in case Philip doesn't have a chance to answer your question for a while, I'll go ahead and do so. Yes, you will need a separate ticket for Strasbourg-Colmar. You can buy it in Paris. If it is a TER (regional) train, you will have to validate your ticket at the station in Strasbourg. Since those tickets are good on any Strasbourg-Colmar regional train, they must be time stamped to prevent them from being used more than once.
