I think there is an article about this on the BBC website if anyone wants to Google it.
I hope it doesn't become an Industry Standard. For years we've had to enforce the no cell phone use in flight...and now it's ok?
I guess at 10,000ft or above, the so called "critical phase of flight" is past and the Safety briefing completed but...I still don't like it...
I mean, in an Emergency, now we'll have to ensure that all Cell phones are off so Pax can hear and follow the direction of the Crew. Not that we're lazy, ok some if not most of us are, but I'm concerned about safety. I know how challenging it can be at times to compete with a newspaper during Safety Announcements...Will the cell phone be next?
And who wants to listen to a cell phone ringer when you're trying to rest? You know how it is, there's always someone who won't lower the volume or set it to vibrate. You know how it always happens in the waiting room at the Doc's Office...
I can't say for sure, but I think the cost was something like one pound per minute or 40p per text and free to receive text?? Maybe someone would be kind enough to look into it further and report back?
Does anyone know when this new "Rule Break" comes into effect?
