CDG Transfer 2E to 2F

The transfer from my flight on Air France from Seattle arrives at terminal 2E. Our flight to Rome leaves from terminal 2F. We have 2 hours 20 mins between flights. Looking at the map of CDG (http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/Adp/Resources/894313b3-1923-4bc6-906c-ba0e8375f2b4-cdg2ef.pdf) it looks pretty easy. Walk from 2E across to 2F via "Galerie De Liason" then up a level to the departures level of 2F.

My question is... after looking at the map it looks like we have to go through "customs" twice. Is this correct? On the map we have to cross the "blue and white" stripe twice.

Hi Heath, It has been a few years since I flew through CDG, so this is only a guess.

I doubt that you will go though customs at all. You should be able to check your bag straight through to Rome so you should be staying in the transit area. However, you might go through two pass control checkpoints. Some countries check your passport both on "arrival" and "departure".

Hey Heath,
Just went though CDG. Don't want to scare ya but it was a Zoo. Went from Philly to Naples, transfer though CDG 2E to 2D. Jetways are closed so you have to go down the steps onto the runway then into a shuttle to 2D. In 2D you go thru the short line (transfer line) to have your passport stamped before proceeding on to 2E. Make sure you get in the transfer line. It's a long run to 2E, for some reason you have to run though 2F to get to 2E coming from 2D. Also you have to go though a security scan before boarding the outgoing CDG flight. The jet in Philly left an hour and a half late. Got to CDG at 8:45 for a 9:30 Naples flight. Got to security line at 2D around 9:45 and I was sure we had missed the flight. Thanks to a equipment malfuction the jet had to be switched so we ended up making it.

Going back was not too bad. Plane left on time from Milano. Had to go from 2F to 2E. Passport check and security check at 2E. Got to the gate at 2E before the to Philly flight boarded.

Strongly suggest that you team up with others going to your terminal in the shuttle. I don't think we would have found our way without the team. More eyes helped to find and rightly follow the arrows, then younger and faster members of the group ran ahead telling airline personel that there was a sizeable group rushing to catch the flight when they reached the gate. Also suggest not taking lavatory breaks until you reach your next departure gate.

Also you might get very lucky finding an experienced CDG flier. Good luck!!

No matter how simple it "looks to be" navigating CDG is not usually pleasant task. I remember being twice in CDG, and the first time we snaked through corridors going around and around and up stairs and down stairs - then we came to a place where there were 2 doors to choose from and there were no indications of which door to take...unfortunately I chose "poorly" and had to retrace my steps all the way back to the 2 unmarked doors :-)) It's just a big and sometimes confusing mess at CDG so be prepared and don't panic.

I flew into CDG in April. The airport seems to be in a constant state of building and changing. There were agents standing around in the airport answering questions and helping people get to where they wanted to go. Be sure any info you get is up-to-date and don't be afraid to ask questions. In April, there was one bank of elevators for exiting the airport. And you had to go up to reach the "down" elevator. There was an info desk near the elevators, so that made it easier. There was a new tram shuttle to the RER station; it picks up passengers very near the spot where shuttle buses stopped in the past. The shuttle ends in the lower level under the RER station. I suppose the RER station has been changed since spring. Improvements? Yes. Confusing? Yes.
