CDG to Marais, Solo

I'm a single woman traveling to Paris for the first time. I bought maps and am beginning to explore different options to transfer to and from CDG to my hotel, in Marais.

I've read some posts about families traveling to and from the Latin Quarter. I don't know if suggestions would change based on the fact of where I am staying, and that I'm by myself. I get in early on a Sunday. Safety first, cost-effectiveness second. Thanks for your help!

Lana, Paris is safe, I travel solo to Paris, and would be scared to do same in Chicago, so don't worry.

You need to tell us which metro station your hotel is nearest to, this is easy as most hotel websites list it on their information page.

Just take RER into Paris, easy as pie , and only about 9 euros. Then you can get out at Chatelet and transfer to a metro line.. its all included in your one ticket.

RER is fastest and cheapest option. DO NOT over pack as there are stairs and long corridors to walk down, and you want to be able to handle your luggage confidently. Keep your valuables in your money belt.

Have fun. Paris is wonderful.

Hi Lana,
The RER works great but if you're concerned about figuring out the RER and then Metro to get to your destination when you're just arriving from an overnight flight here's another option:

The Air France Bus is a little more expensive than the RER but it will take you to Gare de Lyon which is very near the Marais.

There are also shuttle services that will take you straight to your hotel. Around 30 Euro one way. Paris Shuttle is one of them. They use VW minibuses, seating about 7 passengers.

I would not worry about takign the RER and transfering to the stop that is closest.
For example getting off at gare de Nord as it is a good transfer point for many lines.

BTW the marais is my fav area in paris.

Thanks so much for all of your comments! The metro stop I'm staying closest to is Saint Sebastien Froissart. I think the RER/metro transfer sounds like a safe bet. I actually do pack light, so I think I'll be okay.

Take the RER B to Gare du Nord. Transfer to Metro line 5 (direction Place d'Italie) and take it to Republique. Transfer to Metro line 8 (direction Creteil-Prefecture) and take it to Saint-Sebastien - Froissart. The fare is €8.40. Keep your ticket with you until you exit the system. Lana, I suggest getting off at Chatelet ,, but on Bluedenims comment I agree Gare Du Nord and then transfer to line 5( direction Place Italie) get off at Republic and transfer to Line 8( Direction Creteil Prefecture ) would be better. Not faster, but will avoid Chatelet which is a larger station so more walking and easier to get lost.
