CDG to Beaune by train

Not going until September, but started looking at what our train options are. Flight scheduled to arrive at 11:00 am. Looking at tickets three months out and it appears the tickets will be about $90. Four hour travel time with one change. That seems high. Checking Trainline and SNFC.

Help appreciated.

Thank you.

Do you plan to have a car at all on the trip? Also, are you planning on taking a train immediately upon arrival? That's risky, if you miss the train you lose all your money. You might consider spending a night or two in Paris and then going to Beaune on your saver ticket. It also looks like the tickets out of CDG are substantially more expensive that a ticket purchased to depart from Gare Lyon. Those seem to be about 40-50 euro vs. the 100euro you are finding

That is because the TGV trains from CDG go to Lyon, then you back track on a slow TER train to Beaune.

Faster, as well as cheaper and more frequent would be to take the RER (one easy change from the B to the A at Les Halles) to Gare de Lyon, then a TGV to Dijon, then a TER train the short way to Beaune.
Tickets for that would be 40 EUR per person (bought as soon as for sale) plus about 11 EUR for the RER to Gare de Lyon. It is 2 1/2 hours from Gare de Lyon to Beaune.

PS, be aware that it can be risky to buy advance nonrefundable train tickets on your day of arrival at CDG because your flight could be late arriving and/or delay getting through immigration.

We will not have a car. Might get one for a day or two while we are in Beaune.

I did look at the option of the RER train to Gare de Lyon, then onwards. Quite a bit cheaper. Thanks for directions on doing that.

I've made this trip and going into Paris to catch the TGV from Gare Lyon is always better.

Most trips there is a transfer to the local in Dijon. It's super easy.

You might consider the bus that goes directly to the station from the airport. It's only slightly more expensive than the train.

Beaune is great, have a swell time.
