First time to fly to CDG, and then taking a train to Amsterdam. Will I have travel to a train station out of CDG? Or can I just take a train from CDG and hit Amsterdam? Thanks.

I don't think there are any direct trains from CDG to Amsterdam. You will probably have to change at either Lille Europe or Bruxelles Midi. Alternatively if there is no convenient TGV service from CDG at the time your flight arrives you may get a faster connection by getting the RER to Paris Nord and taking a Thalys train from there to Amsterdam.
