CDG Terminal Renumbering--Scheduled for 2027

Okay - I’m excited about this. I’ve gotten used to CDG but Terminal 2 numbering/signage really is a mess.

Under such circumstances, the Terminal 1 retains its name, and then each terminal will be assigned a number in ascending order, from the terminal 1 to the terminal 7 . What is a 'boarding room' ?

The new names of Paris-CDG :
Terminal 1 remains Terminal 1 – boarding rooms S and R
Terminal 3 becomes Terminal 2 – boarding room V
Terminals 2A and 2C are grouped under the name Terminal 3 – boarding room F
Terminals 2B and 2D are grouped under the name Terminal 4 – boarding rooms G and H
Terminal 2E becomes Terminal 5 – boarding rooms B, C and D
Terminal 2F becomes Terminal 6 – boarding room E
Terminal 2G becomes Terminal 7 – boarding room N

What is a 'boarding room' ?

Salle d'embarquement is better translated by "departure lounge", not "boarding room".

The departure lounge is the large, communal area where passengers wait after security checks, filled with shops and seating, while the gate is the specific access point for a flight, the physical location where you board the aircraft, situated at the far end of the departure lounge.
In short, you are in a large departure lounge, and you are heading towards a gate, which is your exit point to your aircraft.

I wouldn't say there is any guarantee that it will be.

What! Trying to instill logic into a French institution. On verra. (We'll see.) We're still talking in francs some days. Things change slowly.

RE: the letters. I believe these will be used as part of the gate naming system. Right now, gate M45 is in Terminal 2E-M, for example. Going forward, gates Sxx and Rxx will be in Terminal 1, gates Vxx in Terminal 2, etc. Why those letters in those terminals? No idea.

Hall or Gates might be a suitable terms as each one of those alphabets covers both departure and arrival.

Overall I think this is a good change. It’s more concise, simpler to navigate and eliminates one level of hierarchy.

For example instead of T2E-M15, it will become T5-D15 … similar to what we have here in the US.
