We are departing Paris in late June via CDG Airport, Terminal 2A. We plan to use the RER to get from our hotel to CDG. I've never been through CDG, and have heard some bad things about this airport's general layout and inefficiency. I would appreciate the advice of a seasoned Paris traveler on a couple of matters. Will the RER drop us off at a point conveninet to this terminal? Where? Also, how much advance time should we build into our schedule (4 of us total) to give us plenty of time to make our flight after arrival at CDG?
There are two RER stations at CDG, CDG 1 and CDG 2 TGV. The second station is literally below Terminal 2. I recommend getting to CDG three hours before a flight across the Atlantic. If you're staying in central Paris, allow one hour to get to CDG by Metro and RER. Be aware that the RER B line divides northeast of Paris. Be sure to get on a train that is going to CDG.
Tim, Does the 3 hours prior at CDG apply even if you don't have anything to claim-no VAT? I was going to allow 2, I take it that's not enough time (Continental)?
Nancy, two hours will probably be enough most of the time, but I like to allow three hours when crossing the Atlantic in either direction. Check with Continental and see what time they want you to check in.
Good, good, good! I had time-budgeted a little over 4 hours from hotel to 777 and it looks like that'll do it.
Much thanks all,
Cal
