What's the best way to get from de Gaulle airport to central Paris, adjacent the Tuileries Gardens? Is taking the Metro express train really so risky? Thanks.

Risky? On the Metro? No way. The Metro is very easy and unless you are hauling big items, you should be able to ger from the airport to your destination very easy.
If you feel that the metro is not the way for you to go (with luggage) then take a taxi. It will cost you more but at least you will be comfortable. Bear in mind, though, the time of day. If its a lot of traffic, be prepared to pay.

Take the RER B from CDG to the Chatelet-Les Halles RER station. Walk through the tunnels to the Chatelet Metro station. Take Metro line 1 to Tuileries. Cost: 8.20€. Keep your eye on your luggage and you'll be fine, day or night.
