CDG Help Please

I will arrive at terminal 2E September 2 at 1130 am. I understand I will go through immigration and passport control. I have a friend arriving at 2A at 2pm. I want to meet him in the arrival hall@ 2A. I have been told I can't go there. I am not sure why. Is that true that I can't go from one part of the airport to another? People have suggested meeting in the lobby of the Sheraton but would prefer not. This is only his second trip overseas and I don't want to make it difficult. Is it possible to meet at 2A?
Thanks for any advice.

The airport website contains information on transfers and much else, including maps. http://www.aeroportsdeparis.fr/ADP/en-GB/Passagers/Home/
You cannot enter secure areas but can wait outside the arrivals halls. Often these corridors are crowded. It will be more relaxing if you and your friend look at the maps and agree on an easily spotted place, such as a cafe, where you can sit down and wait.

As you'll see when you arrive, there's nothing in the arrivals hall except bureaucracy. There's only one way out of the hall - - it will be clearly evident by the crowd waiting to greet arriving passengers, including those with sign boards for hired vehicles. You can wait there, but the other person might come out ten minutes after the plane doors open, or an hour and a half afterwards.

I'd do what Southam suggests.

I doubt that you can get from 2E to 2A without exiting the secure area. It's a long way, so you'll probably take the navette/shuttle bus outside, around the perimeter.

So is the Sheraton lobby a good place to wait? One we can both get to easily after leaving our different terminals? I want to make this as easy as possible

Yes you can meet at 2A. Just that you'll be there with the private car drivers, tour organizers, and family members there to greet people as they come out of the bag check/customs area. It's pretty easy to see where this is when you go in the terminal, because there are a lot of people standing in front of sliding doors waiting for people to come out!

Thanks all. I just need to find my way from 2E to 2A then all is good. I hope I can just go through passport control with my carry on then make a bee line for 2A without exiting the airport and wait at the arrival hall....I will probably have 1 .5 or 2 hours to get there from the time I land. Carry on so no checked baggage. I don't mind waiting. I will have a book to keep me occupied. Any other advice? I need all I can get. Merci

You'll probably make it. It's about a fifteen minute walk between 2A and 2E once you're out in the connecting concourse.
