CDG--Bayeux

Planning far ahead for May 2019 travel... I have a few questions regarding getting to Bayeux from CDG. If I am reading correctly, must we take a train from CDG to Gare St. Lazare to Bayeux? Are there train strikes every year? Will we know the dates far enough ahead (to make alternative plans if they strike on our travel days)? Thank you :)

It is not a difficult drive from CDG to Bayeux. Plus, Normandy touring is easier with a car.

We have no desire to drive while in France. We are going for a D-Day tour and that gentleman will be picking us up and dropping us off at our hotel. We can manage walking around the city as we are staying in the heart of Bayeux.

Strikes happen when there’s an industrial dispute, they aren’t an annual event (although France does have many strikes). Chances are, if the train workers aren’t on strike, the air traffic controllers will be!

There are no direct trains from CDG to Gare St. Lazare. If going by train, you need to take the RER line B to Gare du Nord and then switch to RER line E. After a long flight, two transfers with luggage might be too much. The easiest would be to take a taxi from CDG to the station--fares are regulated, so right now it would cost you 50 euros. If you'd rather take public transportation, take the Roissy bus from CDG. It ends at the Opera, about a 10 minute walk from Gare St. Lazare.
