The current administration scrapped the pro-consumer cash compensation proposal for delayed or canceled flights.
On a related topic, my Air France flight from CDG to Milan was cancelled in September when the plane was supposed to board. They flew people the next day from CDG to Zurich to Milan, so I lost a day of vacation, plus the cost of my reserved hotel. (And I bought a hotel night near CDG because their voucher hotel reviews were awful!)
What did I get for compensation? Zero Euro. All receipts submitted were grouped as “too blurry” or “transactional”. Ridiculous! I have learned previously to not reserve an expensive hotel for the arrival night…just in case.
Did you get compensation for the delay? You would not need receipts for that...
You must file through the Air France Website under EU 261. It's an easy process, just have your banking data available when you file.
I did submit my info through the route. This was the response from Air France before they later said my receipts were blurry or transactional. I thought their rule that they don’t compensate for a hotel pre-reserved for the first night is ridiculous. Who shows up in Europe without the first night booked? Anyway, thanks for your responses from the forum.
”I am sorry that your flight AF 1730 from Paris (CDG) to Milan (MXP) on August 29 2025 was cancelled because of unfavourable weather conditions.”
”The reason for this cancellation is regarded as an extraordinary circumstance and therefore the compensation set by the EC Regulation 261/2004 does not apply.”

To address Jean's issue, there were thunderstorms at Milan that day around the planned arrival time
