carry on restrictions WizzAir

has anyone flown on Wizzair recently. I am planning on only taking a travel backpack, but it measures more than what they have as acceptable on their website. Should I plan on paying to check it or take a chance they will let it be carried on?

No experience with Wizzair but the other discount airline make a lot of money on extra fees and are very strict on size and weight limitations so you chances of slipping by may be slim.

Is this "backpack" a rigid-framed backpack, or soft, like the RS convertible or the OPEC bag? If it is soft, and not packed to bulging, it will probably fit into their sizing box. If it is rigid and any dimension is more than the allowance, probably not.

I flew with Wizz Air from Brussels to Budapest this past October. The airport (I believe it was the airport and not the airline) made a big deal of weighing everyone's bags, but after that, I was not asked to weigh or measure my bag again. How much bigger is your backpack? If it's only slightly bigger in one or two dimensions, you can probably wing it. If it's one of those big, tall hiking backpacks, you're better off pre-paying to check it. If you do get caught and are made to check it at the gate, the fee will be double. Enjoy your flight, my experience with WizzAir was very good.

Thanks - A lot of good info - our backpacks are soft sided, but measure a bit bigger and they aren't even packed!! Guess we will go ahead and check them!! Can't wait - this will be my first trip to Europe.
