carry on luggage on Easy Jet

I know the maximum measurements of a carry on bag is 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm, but how picky are they? Does anyone have experience with this? The bags we are taking have been carried on numerous flights here in the US, but they are just barely not within those guidelines, especially with things like handles and wheels. Will they make us check them, even though they fit in overhead compartments? Thanks!

Something to keep in mind is that with EasyJet (and most other budgets) the cabin baggage is one item, so if you have your "Carry On" and a daypack (or purse, briefcase, etc.), the daypack is your "carry on" and the "Carry on" gets checked. They do not allow you to take on the standard carryon plus a personal item like US airlines. If you truly have only the one item, it would be just as easy to show up at check-in and see what happens. I have no problem with checking luggage on a single hop flight like the budgets are, very unlikely that they would lose your luggage.

In my experience at the Easyjet check-in, they were more concerned with weight than size. If it's relatively close, I think you're in the clear, especially if it looks like "carry-on luggage". It makes sense to me because weight per person is what affects amount of fuel used per trip, which in the end improves or hurts their profit margin..

I took easy jet several times last year, I did too much shopping and ended up with a large suitcase and full backpack (the big hiker style) i checked my large suitcase and they saw my large backpack as well but they did not say anything, I'm not sure if it is still the same, but Easy jet does not have any weight restrictions on its carry on items. I was able to carry on my large backpack twice with no questions but I did my best to keep it out of view!

We just flew Easy Jet from Luton a few weeks ago and had your same worries. We packed our day bag in our carry-on, so we only had one bag each. They did have someone to check to make sure everyone only had one bag before security, but no one looked twice at our carry-ons. Good luck!

I'm so glad you posted this question! My husband and I were wondering the same thing. We are catching a late flight from Bristol to Edinburgh and really don't want to wait around for our checked bags at the end of the flight. We know our day bags will fit into our carry-ons and my carry-on is just the right size, while his is about 1 inch longer than it should be because of the "feet".

It sounds like we shouldn't have any problems, right?

Greetings

They are very strict in the UK - usually at check-in, they will eyeball your bags and suggest you check anything that might be over the size or number limit (one and strictly one). However, it's the folks at security that get to make the decision about the bag size, not the airline. If it doesn't fit within the template, it doesn't go. So it really depends on the security folks, and how strict they are being.

It's usually fine if it just needs to be smushed down a bit, but if it's hard sided, you will have more issues. Once you pass security, you can separate things out.

So has anyone flown Easjyjet since they changed their carry on policy to be size only? 55x40x20 is 21.6x15.7x7.8". My "typical" US carryon is 21.5 x 13 x 9,

Trying to avoid checking bags if possible on our London to Rome and Rome to Paris flights on Easyjet and cannot for the life of me find a bag that is 55 x 40 x20. The 20 is the real kicker as it is smaller than the BAA requirement, but the 40cm width is larger than even my 24" roller is.
