I have decided that the train and bus schedules do not work for us and a car service is cheaper then plane tickets. So can anyone recommend a dependable car service transfer from Krakow to Budapest. I see lots of websites but is is hard to know how dependable a company might be. Thanks.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question. But there do appear to be 3 day trains which all take about 10 hours with reasonable connections, and a night train too. I'm astonished that you can get a car and driver to drive 700km there and 700 km back, through 4 countries and with all the appropriate vignettes and tolls for less than a budget airline or advance train tickets. I'd like to know how this works out for you. Can you let us know how it went?

Or the buses, which are incredibly inexpensive. You still would be at the timetable of a driver.
We just had the similar journey, and we made our schedule accommodate the bus schedule.

For those interested in this topic. I have found four Krakow based travel agencies that will do a one way transfer for us and the cost ranges from $365 to $535 US dollars per car. Now it is just a question of picking the best company in terms of dependablity.
