Car size for 2 couples driving through Croatia !

There are 4 adults traveling with 4 21" suitcases and 2 small daypacks.

We found 3 options: Suzuki S Cross, Peugeot 308 sedan, and a Ford Focus Station Wagon

I am trying to research trunk capacity for each of these. Has anyone rented any of these? What might you suggest ?

we rented a Peugeot something this summer.....4 adults w the luggage you name plus 4 sling bag/purses.......trunk was fine.....had one of those soft hook down covers and we had no problems. visibility was good....parking was not an issue. it seemed to have pretty good pick up Up and down the mountians of Slovenia......

Do you remember if it was just a 4 door sedan or if it might have been a wagon ??

Carla,
We are doing the same trip...4 adults, one vehicle through Croatia and Slovenia. Who are you renting from?

Here is what I have found online-this is for 2 weeks:

Avax rent - Suzuki S Cross for $546

Budget - Peugeot 308 for $338 plus $44 in ferry and cross border fees

Avis - Ford Focus wagon for $491

Avax and Avis have no cross border or ferry fees

Carla.....its funny, I took the photos of it before we left the lot looking for existing damage.....but I didn't write down the make because it was not rented on my card and I didn't drive it......but looking at the photo of the back, it had a flat hatch, so it might be considered a wagon by Euro standards.....certainly not by the wood paneled Brady bunch wagon of my childhood. I think it got reasonably good gas mileage. I don't even know what agency we got it thru......but we rented in Italy and took to Slovenia. (and returned to Italy)

Ford Focus SW is the best choice for trunk capacity and price. The Suzuki crossover has a nice trunk too, but it's a sort of SUV so you pay more for rental and gas.

Just don't UNDERestimate the amount of space you'll need and don't OVERestimate the size of the vehicle. I reserved a midsize station wagon on a trip for my family (2 adults + 2 teenagers). One look at the tiny station wagon and back we went inside to upgrade to ANYTHING larger that would accomodate our 4 pieces of luggage.

Thank you for the help!

I like the idea of the Ford Focus Wagon - we don't have them here in the states to go and VIEW at a dealership !

Would you go for a WAGON versus the Peugeot sedan ??

Sedan vs Wagon is a difference in trunk closing and locking and no trunk at all. Wagons usually have covers that lie flat over the luggage area...that is if all of your luggage fits nice and neatly which it probably won't. I much prefer having a trunk that closes and locks separately from the rest of the car.
