Any car service recommendations for pick up at Rome airport and transfer to
Sorrento?
We just used Aldo Limos this past May. I highly recommend them, and details are included above in my Trip Report.
Have a great time!
Thank you so much!
We used Mondo Guide for transfer between Pompeii and Rome, and were very pleased with their service. We booked pickup in Naples, transfer to Pompeii with a guided tour, then transfer directly to our vacation apartment in Rome. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them for future travel to the Sorrento/Amalfi area from Rome.
It's true that a minimum three-seat train ride is annoying (and the Circumvesuviana pretty gritty), but the Freciarossa train is much faster than a car, for the longest of the rail segments. I presume you are prepared to pay for a four-hour drive, with the overhead of an empty return vehicle cost, and gasoline at $2 per Liter (not, per gallon.) Even in a Mercedes sedan, four hours in the car is not exactly a luxury transfer, to me.
We delayed our first trip to Southern Italy until we were in London for the Chelsea Flower Show, because there are so many bargain flights to Naples from the London area. Just another idea. (And I often urge posters here not to combine the U.K. and The Continent so fast .... )
In April 2022, we used Sorrento Top Excursion to take us from FCO to our hotel in Pompeii. The company has been used and recommended by a number of people on this forum.
We used My Day Trip for the transfer from Salerno to the Rome Airport Hilton. They were also excellent.
Here’s another vote for Aldo Limos. We’ve used them three times and really like them - good customer service via email and really good drivers.
We did the same route in April by train so I can't recommend a car service. What I will say though is that if you decide that the car services are too expensive and consider the train, it will be a long day if you're coming off of an overnight flight. You'll need to catch the Leonardo Express into Rome, then Rome to Naples and then the Circumvesuviana Train to Sorrento. If I had a do-over, we would have spent a night in Rome and tackled the trip with fresh eyes and minds the next day. If you're interested, day one of my Trip report describes that first day. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/trip-report-2-weeks-of-day-trips-from-sorrento
